This is not Tennessee... that's fine with me.

Life is what happens when... your making plans.

Its an age old saying that carries more meaning when we default on its importance.
I had "plans" to be ten hours south of Lake Erie in Gatlinburg, TN this weekend.... but life happened and I find myself surrounded by new friends and old friends, who slowly become even better friends... in one of my favorite places in the world.
Lake Erie (Sandusky Ohio to be more specific ) is one of the most nostalgic places on earth. ( I use the word nostalgic or variations of the word often because, well ahem- its awesome) Lake Erie reminds me of a time where "things were simple."
With patriotism swinging and looting this era of its character and identity.... it simply recalls the good old days that I can only imagine, yet never fully understand.

As I walked out on the dock this afternoon I encountered an older lady sprawled across her beach chair catching the first slice of sunlight all day.
As I became aware of her, I noticed her reading a memoir titled The Help.
As I inquired about the context of her readings, I saw her response weak and bashful.
Engulfed in stories about what it was like to be "the help" in the south (which as a rich white woman.... she never would or could have been)
I found it interesting that she came off nearly ashamed for her interest in such a book.
None the less, her eyes struck me as honest and ungrudging, so instead of leaving her bonded, I found ground in a more comfortable light; delving into her about grand children and her years spent next to the water and that same dock we exchanged our self to one another on.

The lesson(s) I learned today
-----Today I find that some people can make life so much better and that it truly depends on the air, in which you hold their opinion, to how they make you feel upon bestowing their advice upon you.

---
If we simply travel for fun, then we only walk forward with our mouths open and our eyes closed

---tracks must run parallel long enough before they can decided that they must run together.

-----I also learned that we as humans go through so many emotions in 24 hours and that if I am ever blessed enough to have children, I will ask them every night to share highs and lows ( bush and thorn, pows and wows or what ever you may know it by) Its' a tactic I have been taught while working at summer camps that allow people to share feelings they may not have even known were saturated in them through out their day.
